Practice scores

Scoring anchors

The six-category anchors Pitchgrit uses to read a practice call. A score is a reading of one transcript against this rubric.

Rubric 2026-10-30.1. Full marks should be rare. The same anchors are used for a free preview and a paid practice call. Do not use an AI score alone for pay or performance decisions.

  1. Opening and permission

    15 points

    0
No reason for the call, no check that this is a workable moment, or a pitch before the buyer can answer. A guarantee or a savings claim in the opening is here.
    About half
A greeting and a reason, but the reason is about the seller, or there is no permission check and no question.
    Full marks
A short reason tied to this buyer's role, a permission check, and one question. Then the rep stops.
  2. Discovery and questioning

    25 points

    0
No questions, or only questions about the rep's own product.
    About half
A few questions, mostly yes-or-no, that miss budget, timeline, decision process, stakeholders, risk, or the incumbent.
    Full marks
Several open questions that uncover how they buy: budget, timeline, decision, process, stakeholders, risk, or the incumbent. The rep follows one thread instead of running a checklist.
  3. Rapport and credibility

    15 points

    0
Talks past the buyer, dismisses their situation, or makes them wrong.
    About half
Polite, but does not use the buyer's words and does not acknowledge the current way of working.
    Full marks
Reflects something the buyer said, stays credible, and does not overclaim.
  4. Value and insight

    15 points

    0
A generic pitch, or a savings number the buyer did not supply.
    About half
Names a relevant outcome, but not one the buyer stated.
    Full marks
Connects one part of the offering to a priority or pain the buyer actually stated. No unsupported number.
  5. Objection handling

    15 points

    0
Ignores the objection, argues, or repeats the pitch.
    About half
Acknowledges the objection and moves on without a question.
    Full marks
Acknowledges the concern, asks one clarifying question, and makes a smaller next ask.
  6. Next step and advancement

    15 points

    0
No ask, or an offer to send information with no time attached.
    About half
Asks for a follow-up without a day, a length, or who else should be there.
    Full marks
A specific next step the buyer can accept or refuse: a day or window, a length, and who else should be in it.
